Dustin Tebbutt

After an extended 2 year Swedish writing trip, Armidale native Dustin Tebbutt returned to home with his gorgeous four track (J award nominated) EP The Breach. Having written, produced and mixed the project as well as playing the majority of the parts The Breach is a solo work in the fullest sense.

His 2014 follow up EP Bones was supported with a sold out national headline tour, and he is about to take to the road again this time alongside Missy Higgins nationally.

In between all of this Dustin has taken up residency at REC working the small hours on what will become his self-produced debut album, we are all looking forward to hearing the next glorious release of intimate tones that has become his signature to his sound.

The Preatures – Debut Album

Hot off the heels of their Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance at SXSW, The Preatures have returned home to finish their debut album. Having tracked the beds with producer Jim Eno at Public Hifi in Austin TX, they are back in Sydney to mix with their guitarist (and REC resident mix engineer-wiz-kid) Jack Moffitt at the controls.

They have already lifted a new single from the record called Two Tone Melody and after spending the better part of a month at REC are doing a quick whip around the globe in support of it before returning home for some Australian live dates.

You can check out all the news and goss in the lead up to the long player release here. We expect a release date to be announced later this year.

Robert DeLong drops into REC mid-tour.

The American EDM dance club sensation Robert DeLong spent a few days in the studio following his Groovin’ The Moo tour dates. His album “Just Moment”, released last year dominated the blog-sphere and he is wasting no time between tours jumping back into the studio.

He invited Sydney vocalist “Nicole Miller” along with him to collaborate on new material. Nicole has just featured on the new Peking Duk single “High” which has been receiving national radio exposure. We are looking forward to hearing the results.

Robert has since set off on the next leg of his tour, dates here.

360 x Orchestral Recording

In February we had Saraya Beric from The String Selection drop into REC to work on an orchestral collaboration with 360 on his upcoming track “Spiral Down” from his much-anticipated second album, Utopia. This follows on from the massive Aria success of “Falling & Flying” which saw 360 named Breakthrough Artist. Producer Styalz Fuego, who also found acclamation for his work with 360 being named as Aria Producer of the Year, has continued his successful partnership with the rapper on his upcoming album. After performing at huge events such as Rapture 2014 with international superstars Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, we’re sure to see more big things from 360 as we look forward to working again with the leading name in Australian hip hop.

LDRU + Yahtzel

These young electronic trailblazers dropped into the studio this week for a mix session with Willson to work on their first collaboration. On the back of successful tours and appearances at festivals such as Future and Stereosonic, the duo released “You’re Not The Only One” on March 14th. This paves the way for the pair to embark on further combined music ventures, with tour dates. Following on from LDRU’s breakthrough Triple J hit “The Tropics” and Yahtzel’s stellar “High With Me” 2013 Tour, we can’t wait to see what great things are in store for these Aussie electro artists.
